On Monday, Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad, was placed on high alert, and security at all government buildings and important installations was increased.

According to the police spokesman, security had been placed on high alert as a result of information received from various sources and to avoid any untoward incidents.

“It could be related to law and order,” he added.

According to a press release issued by the police department on Monday, additional police contingents have been deployed in the Red Zone and are monitoring the capital’s exit and entry points.

“Unnecessary movement will not be permitted,” the statement said, adding that citizens were asked to cooperate with the police.

However, entry to the Red Zone will be restricted. The intelligence unit of the capital police also altered the quarters concerned.
